"Rising" is an exhibition I curated featuring the work of multidisciplinary artist Sarah Cameron Sunde.

In her compelling performance, Sarah spends 12 hours standing in water as it ebbs and flows around her, laying bare the vulnerability of humanity to rising sea levels.

The art direction for this project encompasses various elements, including the exhibition name, wordmark, tickets, exhibition booklet, stickers, a water bottle, poster, social media posts, and the exhibition space itself.

The wordmark strikes in red, mirroring the color Sarah wears during her performances, while the letter "I" is reminiscent of measurement sticks, symbolizing the fluctuating sea levels. Generative tickets showcase different sea levels and prompt visitors to reflect on their connection with the sea. Digital visuals vividly depict the rising water, emphasizing the urgency of Sarah's message. The website and social media posts are seamlessly integrated into the design system of Kunstpalast, the hosting museum.

The exhibition unfolds indoors in a deliberately chilly environment, inviting visitors to experience the physical discomfort Sarah endures during her performances. A thin layer of water on the floor heightens this sensation. As visitors navigate the space at their own pace, they encounter 12 time-lapse videos of Sarah's performances projected onto transparent curtains, their fluid movements echoing the graceful motion of water in response to the visitors' presence.
